Armed robbers held up the E-Z- Trip Convenience Store at First and Main, firing several shots while in the store. No one was injured.

At 5:45 Tuesday, Newton Police responded to an armed robbery at E-Z Trip Convenience Store, 100 S. Main.

Two men had entered the store, armed with firearms. Multiple shots were fired in the store by at least one of the suspects.

Police have not released how much cash the men absconded with when they fled by car.

Officers used surveillance video to determine a suspect vehicle description with a tag number. That information was put out to surrounding counties and the Kansas Highway Patrol.

About an hour later, Kansas Highway Patrol in Salina located the suspect vehicle and began a pursuit. The vehicle crashed in Salina near Salina South High School, and at least one suspect fled on foot. All three suspects are now in custody.

This investigation is ongoing with the Newton Police Department and Kansas Highway Patrol.
