SALINA — The Newton High School girls’ basketball team fell to Salina Central 58-30 Tuesday in AV-CTL I play in Salina.

Newton trailed 21-10 after the first quarter and 36-18 at the half.

Hampton Williams and Aubrie Kierscht scored 15 points each for Central, 11-2 overall and 5-1 in AV-CTL I play.

Newton was led by Hayley Loewen with eight points.

Newton drops to 0-13, 0-7 in league play.

Newton hosts Hutchinson at 6 p.m. Friday.
