McPHERSON — The Bethel College women’s soccer team used a goal with two assists by Alayna Wallace to lift the Threshers to a 3-2 win over Central Christian College Wednesday night in McPherson.
Alexa Riddle led 2-1 Central with a goal and an assist.
Central scored in the 14th minute on a Riddle goal, but Bethel came right back with goals by Sydney Brown and Katy Ponce in the 23rd and 29th minutes, respectively. Wallace assisted on both goals.
Central tied the game in the 56th minute on a goal by Mariah Godinez with an assist from Riddle, but Wallace broke the tie 81 seconds later on an unassisted goal that stood as the game winner.
Bethel outshot the Tigers 15-14, 10-8 on goal. Ashtyn Brown had six saves in goal for the Threshers. Goldie Bougher had seven saves for Central.
Bethel is 2-0 and plays at noon Friday at Johnson & Wales-Denver in Denver. The Threshers follow with Miles College at noon Saturday in Denver. Both are NCAA Division III (non-scholarship) programs. Both teams are 0-2.
