HESSTON — The season came to an end for the Hesston High School baseball team with an 8-0 loss to Rock Creek Wednesday in the semifinals of the Class 3A regionals at the HHS field.
Rock Creek pitcher Toby Becker went the distance for the win, allowing just two hits with a walk and eight strikeouts.
Austin Griffin took the loss for Hesston, allowing three earned runs on seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Jackson Humphreys went 1.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits with a walk and a strikeout. Jared Nelson finished the game.
Rock Creek scored a run in the bottom of the first inning and put things out of reach with seven runs total in innings four through six.
Becker was three for three hitting with two RBIs. Jacob Reiss went two for two with an RBI. Cameron Minihan went two for three with an RBI.
Brady Cox and Cameron Cox each had a hit for Hesston.
Rock Creek downed Riley County 9-5 in the finals to advance to next week’s state tournament.
Hesston ends the season 11-9.
