WICHITA — The Bethel College softball team claimed five All-Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference award winners for the 2019 season.

Named to the first team was senior pitcher-utility player Madison McDowell of Basehor as a utility player.

McDowell played in 33 games this season for Bethel, hitting .333 with a home run and 15 RBIs. As a pitcher, McDowell was 6-14 with a 5.35 earned-run-average. She had a save. She struck out 63.

McDowell set a school record for RBIs in a game with six against York.

McDowell is among the Bethel career leaders in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, at bats, hits, walks, runs scored, RBIs, home runs, doubles, triples, total bases, stolen bases, games played, wins, innings pitched, complete games, ERA, strikeouts, walks, hit batters, appearances, starts (career leader), assists and double plays.

Named to the second team were sophomore catcher Emalee Overbay of Louisburg and junior outfielder Kerrigan Simons of Riley.

Overbay hit .341 with 16 RBIs. Overbay tied a school record for doubles in a game at three.

Simons hit .368 with 11 RBIs.

Named honorable mention were senior shortstop Michelle Schrag of Moundridge and senior second baseman Alexis Wilson Wamego.

Schrag hit .262 with six RBIs. Wilson hit .366 with 21 RBIs.

Schrag is among Bethel’s career leaders in at bats, hits, walks, runs scored, RBIs, home runs, doubles, triples, total bases, stolen bases, games played, chances, put outs, assists (career leader) and double plays.
