LINDSBORG — The Bethel College softball team ended the season with a twinbill split Saturday against Bethany in KCAC play in Lindsborg.

Bethel won the first game 14-13 in nine innings to snap an eight-game losing streak. Bethany won the second game 10-2 in five innings on the eight-run rule.

In the first game, Bethel scored six runs in the top of the third inning to take an 8-6 lead. Bethany tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with a run on a Ciera Flores RBI single and a Tannah Colson sacrifice fly.

Laura Pineda put Bethel back in the lead with an RBI single in the top of the eighth. Colson drove in a run with a ground out in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game.

Bethel loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the ninth. Bailea Crist drove in a run grounding into a fielder’s choice.

After a ground out, Jordan Hill hit an RBI single. Another run scored on an error on the play. Leisle Hoffman hit an RBI single. Pineda drove in a run on a single.

In the bottom of the ninth, Briana Rodriguez drove in a run on a single. Flores hit a two-run double. Colson drove in a run on a single. A strikeout ended the rally and the game.

Pineda finished the game four for six hitting with two RBIs. Hill went three for six with two RBIs. Michelle Schrag went two for four with two RBIs. Hoffman and Kerrigan Simons each went two for five with two RBIs.

Flores went four for five hitting for Bethany with five RBIs. Colson and Martinez each went three for five with three RBIs.

Madison McDowell tossed a complete-game win for Bethel, allowing five earned runs on 16 hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

Bethany used four pitchers with Lauren Quintana taking the loss.

In the second game, Bethany scored in mathematical progression — none in the first inning, one in the second, two in the third, three in the fourth and four in the fifth.

Bethel scored both of its runs in the top of the fourth inning, aided by a pair of Bethany errors.

Emma Wagner hit a three-home run in the bottom of the fourth.

Rodriguez went three for three hitting with two RBIs. Elizabeth Endsley went two for three with two RBIs. Martinez went three for three with an RBI.

Kerrigan went two for two hitting for Bethel with an RBI.

Ashley Nava went the distance for Bethany, allowing one earned run on six hits. Pineda took the loss for Bethel, allowing eight earned runs on 13 hits.

Bethany is 19-27, 11-13 in KCAC play, tying for sixth in the conference to qualify for the conference playoffs.

Bethel ends the season 11-22, 7-17 in KCAC play. The Threshers lost 16 of their last 18 games.

Bethel loses seven seniors, including five starters.
