HESSTON — The Hesston High School softball team dropped a pair of games to Larned Friday in Central Kansas League at the Hesston High School field.

Hesston fell 12-5 and 10-2.

In the first game, Larned led 8-4 after four innings and added four runs in the seventh inning.

Liz Ecker went three for three hitting for Hesston with an RBI. Hannah Ferguson, Brynn Johnston and Lindsey Jones each drove in a run.

Emily Schmidt took the loss for Hesston, striking out five.

Larned took a 4-0 lead after three innings and held Hesston off the rest of the way.

Hannah Ferguson and Schmidt each had three hits for Hesston. Shelby Kemp drove in a run.

Jones took the loss for Hesston, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Hesston is 1-15 and hosts Nickerson at 4 p.m. Friday.

MARION — The Sedgwick Cardinal softball team was swept by Marion Friday in Heart of America League play in Marion.

Marion won 13-3 and 20-0. The first game was called after five innings on the 10-run rule. The second game was called after three innings on the 15-run rule.

In the first game, Marion scored in every inning but the second.

Taylinn Lacey, Melissa Juhnke and Paige Brown each had two hits for Sedgwick. Brown drove in a run.

Lacey took the loss for Sedgwick.

In the second game, Marion scored all 20 run in the first inning.

Brown and Anna Liby each had a hit for the Cardinals. Brianne Catlin took the loss pitching.

Sedgwick is 5-5 and plays Tuesday at Moundridge.

HUTCHINSON — The Moundridge Wildcats claimed a Heart of America League sweep over Hutchinson Trinity Friday in Hutchinson.

The Wildcats won 7-2 and 13-3. The second game was called in the sixth inning on the 10-run rule.

In the first game, Moundridge scored five runs in the top of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie.

Zizi Sebrant pitched a complete-game win, allowing no earned runs on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Trinity used four pitchers with Lauren Galliher taking the loss. Starter Jordan Galliher struck out nine in six innings.

No player had more than one hit in the game. Zizi Sebrant, Erin Durst, Cambry Stucky, Kate Eichelberger and Alea Durst each drove in a run.

In the second game, Moundridge scored in every inning.

Makenzie Elmore tossed a two-hitter for the win, allowing six walks and four strikeouts. Elmore also went two for four hitting with a home run and four RBIs. Erin Durst drove in two runs. Keira Sebrant hit a solo home run.

Alyssa Harbold took the loss for Trinity.

Moundridge is 12-2 and hosts Sedgwick Tuesday.

BROOKEVILLE — The Remington Broncos swept Ell-Saline Friday in HOAL play in Brookeville.

Remington won 15-4 and 11-2.

Remington led the first game 6-2 after two innings and scored seven runs in the last two innings.

Morgan Thunberg pitched the win for the Broncos, striking out eight.

Madison Hamilton and Olivia Eck each drove in three runs.

Sadie Bradley drove in two runs for Ell-Saline. Raleigh Kramer took the loss pitching.

In the second game, Remington scored in every inning but the fifth.

Rianna Lawler pitched for the win, allowing two runs on 11 hits with four strikeouts. Reece Ditto took the loss for the Cardinals, striking out two.

Bethany Regehr went three for four hitting for Remington, striking out two.

Kramer went three for three hitting for Ell-Saline. Katrina Nelson drove in two runs.

Remington is 12-4 and hosts Inman at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

HALSTEAD — The Halstead Dragon baseball team dropped a pair of games to Pratt Friday in Central Kansas League play.

Pratt won 15-0 and 11-0. The first game was called after four innings on the 15-run rule. The second game was called after five inning on the 10-run rule.

Pratt scored 11 runs in the fourth inning to break the game open.

Kaden Evert tossed a no-hitter, striking out five and walking two.

Chandler Drake took the loss for Halstead.

In the second game, Pratt jumped out 4-0 through four innings and scored seven runs in the fifth.

A.J. Arensdorf threw 3.2 innings of relief for the win, striking out six. Dawson Driskill pitched the loss, striking out two.

Travis Theis went three for four for Pratt, driving in two runs. Nate Kolm drove in four runs. Arensdorf drove in two runs.

Driskill and Bryant Odendahl each had a hit for Halstead.

Halstead is 3-11 and plays Monday at Cheney in a make-up doubleheader.

HESSTON — The Hesston Swather baseball team split a CKL twinbill against Larned Friday at the HHS field.

Hesston won the first game 11-3 and lost the second game 8-4.

Hesston jumped out to a 5-2 lead after three innings in the first game.

Jackson Humphreys pitched six innings for the win, striking out six. Jared Nelson struck out two in the seventh.

Brady Cox went four for four hitting with three RBIs. Brendan Boles went three for three with two RBIs. Cody Wohlgemuth drove in two runs.

Larned took a 5-4 lead in the second game and scored three runs total in the last two innings for the win.

Nelson took the loss for Hesston, striking out two. Cox finished the game, striking out seven in four innings.

Humphreys and Boles each had two hits for the Swathers.

Hesston is 10-6 and hosts Nickerson Friday.

BROOKEVILLE — The Remington Broncos dropped a pair of high-scoring games to Ell-Saline Friday in Heart of America League play in Brookeville.

Ell-Saline 24-14 and 10-5. The first game ended on the 10-run rule in the sixth inning. The second game was called after six innings because of darkness.

In the first game, each team scored in every inning but the third. Ell-Saline scored seven runs in the fourth to take a 15-8 lead.

Weston Sommers went three for five hitting for Remington with four RBIs. Braden Scribner went two for five with two RBIs.

Hagen Taylor took the loss for Remington.

In the second game, Ell-Saline led 8-1 after two innings.

Remington outhit the Cardinals 6-3. Nathan Forster went two for three hitting with two RBIs. Brayden Hays drove in two runs.

Remington starter Weston Sommers took the loss.

Remington is 2-14 and hosts Inman Tuesday.

MARION — The Sedgwick Cardinal baseball team dropped a pair of games to Marion Friday in HOAL play in Marion.

Sedgwick fell 5-2 and 7-3.

The first game was tied 2-2 until Marion scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Blaine Mermis went two for three hitting for Marion with two RBIs.

Hooper Schroeder went two for three for Sedgwick with an RBI.

Jaxton Tracy pitched six innings for the win for Marion, striking out nine. Sam Zinn pitched the seventh for the save. Nolan Crumrine took the loss for Sedgwick, striking out three.

In the second game, Marion led 5-3 after three innings and added two runs in the sixth.

Mermis went three for three hitting for Marion with an RBI. Luke Lanning went two for three with an RBI.

Lance Hoffsommer went two for two hitting for Sedgwick.

Chase Stringer struck out three in five innings for the win. Zinn struck out four in the last two innings for the save.

Andrew Hoffsommer struck out eight in five innings in the loss.

Sedgwick is 10-2 and plays Tuesday at Moundridge.
