WICHITA — The Bethel College softball team dropped a pair of games to Friends Wednesday in KCAC play at the Two Rivers Youth Complex.
Bethel lost the first game 1-0 and the second game 8-4. The Threshers have now lost four straight.
In the first game, Friends pitcher Hali Walters went the distance with a one-hitter, walking two and striking out 10.
Bethel’s Madison McDowell went the distance, allowing one run, nine hits and five strikeouts.
Friends scored with two outs in the bottom of the third inning when Mackenzie Nichols singled to drive in Shelby Belloni.
Belloni, Savannah Jackson and Nichols each went two for three hitting.
Emalee Overbay had the Threshers’ sole hit.
In the second game, Friends scored in the bottom of the first on a wild pitch. Kat Davis added an RBI single in the bottom of the third inning.
Bethel scored in the fourth inning on a passed ball. Alexis Wilson tied the game with an RBI single with two outs in the top of the fifth.
Friends regained the lead with three runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth.
Wilson hit a two-run double for Bethel with two outs in the top of the seventh.
Ashtyn Jacobs posted the win in the second game in relief of Alicia Dunagan. Jacobs allowed one earned run on two hits. Dunagan allowed two earned runs on eight hits with a strikeout.
Laura Pineda took the loss for Bethel, striking out three in five innings. McDowell finished the game.
Davis finished the game three for four hitting with two RBIs. Nichols went two for three with an RBI.
Wilson finished the game three for four for Bethel with three RBIs. Leisle Hoffman went two for four.
Friends is 13-14, 6-4 in KCAC play. Bethel drops to 9-10, 5-5 in KCAC play. Bethel plays at 1 p.m. Saturday at McPherson College.

WINFIELD — The Bethel College men’s golf team finished sixth out of eight teams Monday and Tuesday at the Moundbulders Spring Classic at the Quail Ridge Golf Course in Winfield.
Dodge City Community College won the team title at 595, followed by Baker at 611, Southwestern at 618, Oklahoma Wesleyan at 627, Central Christian at 627, Bethel at 670, Allen County Community College at 677 and Oklahoma Panhandle State at 783.
Saksit Jairak of Dodge City was top medalist at 146. Danny Taggert and Stanley Lewis of DCCC tied with Nick Delaquila of Baker for second place at 149.
Bethel was led by Connor Mickens, who tied for 14th at 158, followed by Parker Austin, who tied for 19th at 160. Chase Sparks tied for 40th at 173. Chase Anderson was 45th at 179. Trea Gehring was 46th at 201.
Bethel hosts the Bethel Invitational 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hesston Golf Course and 9 a.m. Sunday at Sand Creek Station.
