Newton Fire/EMS crews were called out early Friday morning for a structure fire at Krueger Insurance, 130 E. Fourth St.
Deputy Chief Steve Roberson said the initial crews who responded to the scene around midnight found the building filled with smoke. Firefighters located several spots in the ceiling of the building that were burning.
"The structure suffered significant heat and smoke damage," Roberson said. "...It wouldn't surprise me if the structure is a total loss."
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined pending an investigation that is expected to be completed next week.
Roberson added there were no injuries sustained by anyone responding to the fire.
"Everybody who went, went home safe — just cold, tired and wet," Roberson said.
Fire crews remained on scene until about 9 a.m.
