HESSTON — The Hesston Swather girls opened Central Kansas League play with a 51-31 win over Hoisington Friday in Hesston.

Elise Kaiser led Hesston with 26 points, hitting 12 of 14 free throws. Rylie Schilling added 14 points.

Hesston led 25-14 at the half.

Kelsi Dalton led Hoisington, 2-4, with 18 points.

Hesston is 7-1 and plays Tuesday at Smoky Valley.

ELBING — The Berean Academy girls’ basketball team got off to a 19-8 lead in the first quarter and held off Hutchinson Trinity the rest of the way, winning 55-47 in HOAL play Friday in Elbing.

Berean led 30-22 at the half and 43-31 after three quarters.

Carissa Slabach led Berean with 15 points, followed by Brooke Wiebe with 14.

Trinity, 1-5, was led by Hayley Hughes with 13 and Olivia Shank with 11.

Berean Academy is 6-3 and plays Friday at Sterling.

MOUNDRIDGE — The Moundridge Wildcat girls held Oxford to nine points in the first half en route to a 53-25 win Friday in Moundridge.

The Wildcats jumped out 20-5 after the first quarter and led 37-9 at the half.

Kate Eichelberger and Kourtney Kaufman each led Moundridge with 12 points.

Erin Gaither led 1-6 Oxford with 12 points.

Moundridge is 6-2 and opens Heart of America League play Tuesday at home against Remington.

ELBING — The Berean Academy boys’ basketball team failed to get its offense in gear Friday, falling to Hutchinson Trinity 34-23 in HOAL play in Elbing.

Down 9-6 after the first quarter, the Warriors were outscored 13-2 in the second quarter.

Lucas Hammeke led 4-2 Trinity with 11 points.

Berean was led by Kiegan Vogt with seven points.

Berean is 6-3 and plays Friday at Sterling.
