Entering year five of Giving Tuesday, the Central Kansas Community Foundation will try something a little new and different — capitalizing on "Taco Tuesday."

The first #givingtuesday Taco Fest will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Newton Recreation Center.

"It will be soft and crunchy tacos," said Brenda Sooter of the CKCF. "You come in, and put whatever you want to on it. It will be  by donation — there is no charge but by donation."

A local business is helping sponsor the food for the day, but the CKCF hopes that those who come will chew on more than tacos.

There will be 44 different charities that can be supported during the Giving Tuesday event — all with unique needs.

The CKCF has published a "wish book" online at centralkansascf.org.

"We are promoting that giving opportunity for our local charities," Sooter said. "Some of our charities are only wanting volunteers, while others want specific things on their wish lists that are in our wishbook."

Any and all financial gifts made Nov. 27 will go directly to charities designated by the givers.
