WICHITA – The Bethel College volleyball team will take on Southwestern at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the play-in round of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
Bethel enters play 6-20 overall and 3-9 in KCAC play. Southwestern is 19-13, 5-7 in KCAC play. Southwesten is the sixth seed, while Bethel is the 11th seed. The winner faces third seed Kansas Wesleyan (25-7, 10-2 KCAC) at 7:30 p.m.
The semifinals and finals are Saturday.

HESSTON — The Hesston College men’s basketball team improved to 3-0 after a pair of wins.
Friday, Hesston downed the Bethel College junior varsity 92-82. Monday, Hesston downed Next Level Prep 86-80.
Against the Bethel JV, Hesston led 48-40 at the half.
Grant Harding and Cal Hartley each scored 22 points for Hesston. Braden Handcock and Derrick Magiya each added 12 points. Harding had 10 rebounds.
For the Bethel JV, Travaughn Flowers scored 27 points with 10 rebounds. Clifford Byrd Jr. scored 17 points with 12 rebounds. Danen Kistne scored 14 points. Miki Zewge scored 12 points.
Against Next Level Prep, a post-high school team based out of Wichita, Hesston led 86-80 at the half.
Hartley led Hesston with 25 points. Magiya scored 16 points. Harding scored 15 points with 13 rebounds. Handcock scored 10 points.
Ja'Kair Sanchez led Next Level Prep with 24 points. Jaden Graves scored 15 and Amadon Traore scored 10.
Hesston hosts Jayhawk Conference Division I East for Butler Community College, 1-2, at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
HESSTON — The Hesston College women’s basketball team opened the season by splitting a pair of home games.
Friday, Hesston downed the Bethel junior varsity 73-68. Monday, Hesston fell to Colby Community College 87-37.
Against Bethel, Hesston trailed 15-11 after the first quarter and led 30-28 at the half and 51-46 after three quarter.
Essence Tolson led Hesston with 25 points and 19 rebounds. Denazia Jeffers added 12 points. Mackenzie Smith scored 11.
For Bethel, Alex Bearup scored 27 points. Kadi Relph scored 13 points.
Monday, Hesston trailed 26-10 after the first quarter and 46-19 at the half.
Sia Williams led Colby with 22 points, followed by Mauri Scales with 18, Tamia Mobley with 13 and Kissandra Pollard with 11.
Millaya Bray led Hesston with 17 points off the bench, hitting 11 of 13 free throws.
Hesston hosts 3-0 Butler Community College at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
