The 2018 MCC Flatlander Bike Ride raised a record amount of almost $15,500 for a Mennonite Central Committee water project in an area of extreme poverty in Guatemala where water catchment systems enable women to grow vegetables to sell and to feed their families. About  175 riders from across the state, as well as some from Oklahoma and Nebraska, participated. Our thanks to them for their support, as well as to our sponsors: Newton - Charlotte’s Sew Natural, Copies & More, Faith & Life Bookstore, Horn’s Auto Repair, Horn’s Painting, Mennonite Press, Prairie Harvest Market and Deli, Rudiger’s Precision Sharpening, and Frank and Kathy Stucky; North Newton – Bluestem Wellness Centers, Mojo’s Coffee Bar, and North Newton Community Foundation; Goessel – Keith’s Foods; McPherson – ArtShirt Gear for Sport; and Wichita – Bicycle Pedaler. The Planning Committee also acknowledges with heartfelt thanks the more than 40 volunteers who contributed their time to ensure a safe and successful ride. The 2019 Flatlander is on the third Saturday of September. Riders of all ages welcome!
