BC men tie


The Bethel College men’s soccer team posted a 2-2 tie against McPherson College Wednesday in KCAC play at Joe W. Goering Field.

Bethel scored in the 24th minute on a goal by Jose Rojas with an assist by Joshua Clay.

McPherson tied the game in the 48th minute on a goal by David Mwinga with an assist from Chris Kelly.

Bethel regained the lead in the 59th minute on a goal by Chris Torres with an assist by Clay, but Mwinga tied the game in the 77th minute. Neither team scored in the 20 minutes of overtime. McPherson had the only three shots of the extra period.

Bethel was outshot 28-2, 15-2 on goal. Kobi Russom had 13 saves for Bethel. Thomas Kleywegt played in goal for McPherson without a save.

McPherson is 2-6-3, 2-2-2 in KCAC play.

Bethel is 0-9-2, 0-4-2 in KCAC play and plays at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at York.

Thresher women

tie McPherson

The Bethel College women’s soccer team played McPherson to a scoreless draw Wednesday night in KCAC play at Joe W. Goering Field.

Bethel outshot the Bulldogs 22-8, 11-5 on goal. Caitlin Cordes had five saves for Bethel. Christie Silber had 11 saves for McPherson, 0-10-1, 0-5-1 in KCAC play.

Bethel is 2-7-1, 1-4-1 in KCAC play, and plays at 1 p.m. Saturday at York.

Hesston women

fall to HCC

BUHLER — The Hesston College women’s soccer team fell to Hutchinson Community College 6-0 Wednesday night in Jayhawk Conference West play at the Buhler High School stadium.

Hutchinson improves to 10-2-1, 8-2-1 in conference play. Hesston drops to 0-14, 0-11 in the conference.

Ashley Venegas scored two goals with three assists for Hutchinson. Brailey Moeder added a goal with an assist. Hailey Burke, Addi White and Macy Smith each scored a goal.

Hesston was outshot 52-0, 22-0 on goal. Vivi Rodriguez had 16 saves in goal for Hesston. Taylor Camp played in goal for HCC.

Hesston hosts Garden City Community College at 5 p.m. Friday at Gerry Sieber Field.

Halstead sweeps

at Lyons

LYONS — The Halstead High School volleyball team claimed a pair of wins Tuesday in Lyons.

Halstead downed host Lyons 17-25, 25-23, 25-20 in Central Kansas League play. Halstead beat Skyline 26-24, 25-12 in non-league play.

Halstead ends the regular season 29-8, 6-3 in KCAC play. Halstead opens sub-state play Oct. 20 in Lyons.
