Campus (4-2) at Derby (6-0)
Both teams are looking to improve their post-season situations with this game. Derby also can create a winner-take-all match next week against Maize by stopping Campus.
Derby is tied with Lawrence Free State atop the Class 6A West District Standings both on record and on tie-breaker. Campus is fifth in the district and needs to stay in the top eight for a home playoff spot.
Derby downed Hutchinson 63-0 last week, while Campus downed Wichita Southeast 34-6.
Salina Central (5-1) at Maize (6-0)
Both teams remain in the Class 5A West District chase as Maize is first and Central is third. Maize and Wichita Northwest are the sole unbeatens left in the district.
Maize needs a win to set up a showdown with Derby next week for the league title. Central needs a win coupled with a Derby loss to Campus for a shot at the league title.
Salina Central downed Newton 33-19 last week, the Mustangs tightest game of the season, while Maize gave up its first touchdown of the year in a 42-7 win over Salina South.
Maize’s Caleb Grill has 1,067 yards passing and 14 touchdowns. Caden Cox has 550 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns. Jordan Helm has 352 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
Salina South (0-6) at Hutchinson (1-5)
Hutchinson fell to Derby 63-0 while South fell to Maize 42-7. The Cougars were the first team to score a touchdown on Maize this season and did it in the first quarter.
Terran Galloway leads South with 783 yards passing and three touchdowns. Kyle Quill has 107 yards rushing. Ty Garrett has 572 yards receiving and a touchdown.
