Hesston (2-1) at Smoky Valley (3-0)
Hesston suffered a setback last week with a 55-0 loss to Pratt. Smoky Valley edged Nickerson 8-6 on the road.
Several key starters were out for Hesston last week.
Brady Cox moved to quarterback for Hesston last week, passing for 48 yards and rushing for 49.
Parker Roth has 284 yards rushing and five touchdowns, but missed last week.
For Smoky Valley, Tim Lambert has 370 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Lane Schrag has 266 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Schrag also has 97 passing yards and a touchdown. Cort Elliott has 201 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Blake Heble has 16 total tackles, followed by Elliott, Lambert and Carson Windholz with 14 each. Schrag has two fumble recoveries.
Rock Creek (0-3) at Halstead (2-1)
Halsread ran over Lyons 64-0 last week to stay a game behind Pratt and Smoky Valley in CKL play, while Rock Creek fell to Rossville 29-21 in Mid-East League play.
Halstead has done most of its damage on the ground, passing for just 95 yards. Scott Grider has 419 rushing yards with six touchdowns, followed by Bryant Odendahl with 140 yards and two touchdowns. Lakin Farmer has 28 total tackles.
Rock Creek’s Charlie Killingsworth has 125 yards passing and 102 yards rushing with two touchdowns. Bryant Golden has 257 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Skyler Forge has 116 yards rushing and a touchdown. Connor Richards has 29 total tackles.
Heart of America
Ell-Saline (2-1) at Sedgwick (3-0)
It’s the annual “Battle of the Redbirds” in the Heart of America League this week as the Ell-Saline Cardinals take on the Sedgwick Cardinals in another key HOAL clash.
The two teams met twice last year, with Ell-Saline winning twice, including a 44-41 epic in the first round of the Class 2-1A playoffs.
Ell-Saline beat Sterling (48-7) and Remington (48-6) before losing to Hutchinson Trinity 8-6 last week. Trinity stopped a two-point conversion with 7:20 left in the fourth quarter to preserve the win.
Sedgwick is coming off a 47-8 win over Sterling.
Ell-Saline’s Nick Davenport has 421 yards passing and five touchdowns, along with 223 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Treyton Peterson has 159 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
For Sedgwick, Hooper Schroeder has 1,063 yards passing and 12 touchdowns. He also has three rushing touchdowns. Kale Schroeder has 345 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Mason Lacey has 306 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Cauy Root has 201 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Gavin Fitch has 151 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Colton Smith has 314 yards rushing and four touchdowns.

Garden Plain (3-0) at Remington (0-3)
Remington fell to Inman 21-6 last week, while Garden Plain downed Wichita Trinity Academy 56-14 in Central Plains League play.
Garden Plain is led by Ethan McGregor with 248 yards passing and three touchdowns. Caleb Hitt has 149 yards rushing with four touchdowns. John Nowak has 149 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Matt Pauly has 150 yards receiving with a touchdown. Nowak leads the defense with 12 total tackles. The Garden Plain defense has picked off seven interceptions this season.
Eight-Man I, District 4
Wheat State League
Solomon (3-0) at Goessel (2-1)
Solomon edged Moundridge 48-34 last week, while Goessel downed Wakefield 30-20 for the Bluebirds’ second straight win.
Braden Neilson has 189 yards passing with five touchdowns and 262 yards rushing with seven touchdowns. Logan Krause has 321 yards rushing with four touchdowns. Jobe Fowles has 212 yards rushing with two touchdowns. Cobe Fiske has 130 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Fowles has 26 total tackles, followed by Neilson with 23 and Krause and Eli Basvic with 21 each. Neilson and Tyler Marfise each have two interceptions.
For Goessel, Dylan Lindeman has 178 yards passing and three touchdowns. Zach Zogleman has 287 yards rushing and five touchdowns. Kale Funk has 71 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
Herington (2-1) at Peabody-Burns (1-2)
Herington downed Rural Vista 88-40 last week, while Peabody-Burns snapped a six-game losing streak with a 46-24 win over Chase County on the road.
It was the first win for first-year Warrior coach Kody Tegtmeier.
For Peabody-Burns, Ro Weerts has 220 yards passing and three touchdowns, along with 91 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Jess Philpott has 272 yards rushing and four touchdowns.
For Herington, Kevin Ansell has 326 yards rushing with five touchdowns. Easton Idelman has 92 yards passing and two touchdowns along with 274 yards rushing and six touchdowns. Kayland Alexander has 91 yards receiving with two touchdowns.
Eight-Man I, District 5
Moundridge (1-2) at Skyline (1-2)
Moundridge fell to Solomon 48-34 last week, while Skyline fell to eight-man powerhouse Attica-Argonoa 44-10. Both teams are on two-game losing streaks after winning in the first week of the season — Skyline over Burrton 54-6 and Moundridge over Goessel 42-6.
For Moundridge, Dylan Vogts has 104 yards passing and three touchdowns. Cody Hazelton has 234 yards rushing and two touchdowns, along with 71 yards receiving and a touchdown. He also has 39 total tackles. Daniel Kaufman has 121 yards rushing and three touchdowns to go with 21 total tackles on defense. Brady Helms has 117 yards receiving with two touchdowns and 22 total tackles.

Heart of the Plains
Hutchinson Central Christian (1-2) at Burrton (0-3)
Burrton fell to Fairfield 50-38 last week, while Central Christian fell to South Barber 70-68 in triple overtime.
Central Christian is led by Caleb Lambert with 452 yards passing and five touchdowns and 192 yards rushing and six touchdowns. Adam Hall has 199 yards rushing with three touchdowns. Garrett Burns has 166 yards rushing and two touchdowns and 35 total tackles.
