DERBY — The top-ranked Derby Panthers scored on their first eight possessions to stop Salina Central 63-0.
Derby, 2-0, led 55-0 at the half. The second half was played with a running clock.
Grant Adler rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown and passed for 61 yards and two touchdowns. Tre Washington rushed for 85 yards and three touchdowns.
Central falls to 1-1.
Campus 29, Newton 20
NEWTON — The Newton High School football team failed to finish on enough opportunities, falling to Campus 29-20 Friday night in Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League play at Fischer Field.
Sam Wise rushed for 150 yards on 21 carries to lead Campus, 2-0. Cameron Harvey added 129 yards on 17 carries with a touchdown.
Newton, 1-1, was led by Colton Davis, who hit 16 of 32 passes for 182 yards with two touchdowns and rushed 23 times for 186 yards and a touchdown. Davis’ 368 yards of total offense was one of his best as a Railer.
Maize 49, Hutchinson 0
HUTCHINSON — Caleb Grill hit 11 of 18 passes for 205 yards and four touchdowns to lead Maize to a 49-0 win over Hutchinson Friday in Hutchinson.
Caden Cox had 19 carries for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Grill added a rushing touchdown.
Prevon Christon caught two passes for 88 yards and a touchdown. Deriq Doty caught three passes for 31 yards and a score. Scott Adams caught a pass for 26 yards and a touchdown.
Damon Cantu had 20 carries for 77 yards to lead Hutchinson, 0-2.
Maize improves to 2-0.
Dodge City 27, Salina South 17
SALINA — It wasn’t the outcome coach Sam Sellers and his Salina South football team wanted, but there were some positives in the Cougars’ 27-17 loss to Dodge City on Friday night at Salina Stadium.
Sophomore quarterback Terran Galloway threw for 247 yards — 222 the second half — as South scored its first points of the season. Ty Garrett, a junior wide receiver, caught 10 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown.
And the defense played well for three quarters, but a special teams breakdown and two trick plays propelled 1-1 Dodge City to the victory.
South falls to 0-2.
