WICHITA — The Newton Dirtbaggers 14U baseball team finished the weekend 2-0.
Newton downed the Derby Longhorns 12-0. Caleb Koontz, Cade Valdez, Luke Hirsh and Austin Radke each drove in two runs. Joel Franz finished two for three with an RBI. Koontz and Joe Slechta each pitched two innings, combining on a no-hitter. Koontz struck out four in the win. Slechta struck out one.
The Dirtbaggers downed the Yellow Jackets 11-5. Kenyon Frost drove in three runs. Radke went two for three with two RBIs. Franz and Andrew Barron each went two for three with Franz driving in a run.
Luke Hirsh pitched four innings for relief for the win, striking out five. Valdez and Jake Schmidt also pitched.
The Dirtbaggers are 12-13.
Newton High School volleyball coach Jamie Dibbens is hosting a volleyball camp the week of July 16 at the Newton Activity Center.
Fifth and sixth graders will meet from 10:30 to noon July 16 through the 18. Seventh and eighth graders will meet from noon to 2 p.m. July 16 through 19.
Registration forms are due Friday to be guaranteed a t-shirt, but players may register up to the day of the camp.

Dibbens will be assisted by members of the NHS girls’ team as well as alumni.
Members of the Bethel College men’s and women’s soccer team were named to the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference all-academic team for the 2017-18 school year.
To be named to the team, “Student-athletes must have sophomore standing at the start of the sport season, maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.333 on a 4.0 scale, and letter in their sport.”

WICHITA — The Wichita Wingnuts dropped their fourth straight game, falling to the Lincoln Saltdogs 11-4 Tuesday night in American Association play at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
Tied 1-1 after three innings, Lincoln broke the game open with three runs in the fourth inning, five in the fifth inning and two in the sixth. Wichita scored three runs in the seventh.
Kyle Kinman (3-1) threw six innings for the Saltdogs, allowing one run on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Dillon Sunnafrank, Derek Gordon and Brad Thoutt threw an inning each for finish the game.
Jordan Cooper (4-4) went five innings in the loss, allowing eight earned runs on 12 hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Seth Harvey finished the game, allowing two runs on three hits with a walk and four strikeouts.
T.J. Bennett went two for five hitting for the Saltdogs with a home run and three RBIs. Curt Smith went three for four with a home run and two RBIs. Brandon Jacobs went three for five with a home run and two RBIs. Cesar Valera also drove in two runs.
Zach Nehrir led Wichita at the plate, going three for four with three RBIs. Abel Nieves went two for four with an RBI.
Wichita is 25-17, while Lincoln is 25-18. Wichita drops to eight games behind Sioux City in the AA South, while Lincoln is 8 1/2 games.
Wichita and Lincoln play again at 6:05 p.m. today.
