The Kansas-Oklahoma game will be shown on three screens — 10 foot, 70 inch and 55 inch.

Gurty’s will have half-price appetizers until 6 p.m.

Hesston grad

BOLIVAR, Mo. — Hesston High School graduate Caylee Richardson, a junior basketball player at Southwest Baptist University, scored her 1,000th college career point Thursday in a 67-53 win over Lindenwood in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.

Richardson finished the game with 18 points and 12 rebounds, leading SBU to an 11-6 record, 3-5 in MIAA play.

Thunder adds

three players

WICHITA — Forward Kyle Platzer has been assigned by the Edmonton Oilers from the Bakersfield Condors to the Wichita Thunder.

In addition, Wichita signed defenseman Kevin Patterson and forward Tyler VanKleef.

A third-year pro, Platzer earlier played nine games with Wichita, scoring five goals with nine assists. With Bakersfield, he scored five goals with three assists in 23 games. For his career, he has played in 135 pro games, scoring 19 goals with 31 assists. He also played in three playoff games.

A rookie, Patterson played in 27 games with the Peoria Rivermen of the Southern Professional Hockey League, scoring 12 assists. Patterson played four years at Niagara University, scoring nine goals with 18 assists in 124 games. He was a two-time Atlantic Hockey Association Scholar-Athlete of the year. Patterson played junior hockey with the Topeka Roadrunners.

VanKleef played one game with South Carolina of the ECHL and 27 games with Evansville of the SPHL, scoring 10 goals with 11 assists.

VanKleef played 102 games for NCAA Division III Curry College, scoring 39 goals with 28 assists. He was a two-time All-ECAC Northeast All-Academic selection and a third-team All-Commonwealth Coast Conference selection as a senior.

Wingnuts sign

C Nester

WICHITA — The Wichita Wingnuts announced one of its first signings of the 2018 season, signing catcher John Nester.

Nester spent the last two seasons as a minor-league catching coach in the San Diego Padres organization.

He played 80 games with Wichita in the 2015 season, hitting .281 with five home runs and 43 RBIs. For his career, he has hit .244 with 18 home runs and 139 RBIs. He has played in the San Diego Padre and Oakland A’s farm systems, playing as high as Advanced Class A. He also played 86 games with Evansville of the independent Frontier League.

Nester has a lifetime .994 fielding percentage. With Wichita, he threw out 26 of 59 base stealers.
