Jost to be celebrated

"Make a Joyful Song: Celebrating the Legacy of Walter Jost" is the theme of the Newton Chorale’s 40th season concert  at 6:30 p.m . March 5  at Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton.

Director Renae Schmidt Peters has included many of Jost’s favorite works, including Harold Moyer’s "Songs of Faith." Admission is free with an offering taken to help cover concert expenses.


Kaufman Wall to speak tonight

"People of the Land: Mennonites and the Doctrine of Discovery" is the topic of a presentation by Karin Kaufman Wall at 8 p.m. March 3 at the Mennonite Central Committee Central States office, 121 E. 30th St., in North Newton.

Kaufman Wall is peace and justice education coordinator with MCC Central States. Her presentation is part of the annual corporation meeting of Mennonite World Review Inc. All are welcome to attend the business meeting at 7 p.m. or come at 8 p.m. to Kaufman Wall's presentation.


Church to host carnival, egg hunt

Grace Community Church will host an Easter Egg Hunt from 9 a.m. to noon April 15. 

Last year about 900 people attended the event. 

Grace Community Church is located at 1600 S. Anderson. 


Grace to host retreat Men's Retreat

The Men's Ministry at Grace Community Church is inviting all men to a weekend of fishing, golf, fellowship, and encouragement at Lake Taneycomo in Forsyth, Missouri. The trip will begin at 6 a.m. May 5, with a return of 5 p.m. May 7. 

Retreat speaker will be Bruce Ewing, Special Assistant to the President of Dallas Theological Seminary. Cost of the retreat starts at $95 per person. For more information call the church at 283-2554.
