Three people were found dead at a residence in northwestern Harvey County. Three people reported gunshot victims were found outside a residence near West Dutch Avenue and Spring Lake Road, in the 8000 block of N. Spring Lake Road, west of Hesston.

According to the sheriff's department and there is no current threat to the public.

"We are not aware of any wild person just shooting people," said Sheriff T. Walton during a media briefing. 

Walton confirmed that the deaths will be investigated as a homicide. 

According to the Newton Police Department, there was a call to 911 reporting the bodies at about 5:30 p.m., made by a motorist who had been flagged down and told about the shooting on Spring Lake Road. The caller told 911 there were multiple victims.

Sheriff T. Walton told media one of the victims was 53, the others "in their 30s"

Deputies and officers from several agencies including NPD Kansas Highway Patrol and the sheriff's office responded to the residence. When they arrived they found three people who were deceased in front of the house. They entered the house and located an 18-month-old child. No suspects have been located. The identity of the deceased will not be released until family has been notified.

According to the Harvey County Sheriff's Office, there is a full homicide investigation into two men and one womb. They were found near Alta Mills, west of Hesston. According to the Sheriff's department, an 18-month-old child was taken from the home and is now with grandparents. Two of the people fatally shot were the child's parents.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has been contacted and will assist with the investigation.
