EDC to host collaboration meeting

Harvey County Economic Development, in partnership with the City of Newton and Harvey County, will host a Regional Collaboration Meeting from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.  July 19 at the Meridian Center.

 

Invited speakers include the Blue Print for Regional Economic Growth, the newly created Greater Wichita Partnership, and the Mayor of Wichita Jeff Longwell.

 

North Newton council to meet

The North Newton City Council will meet at 7 p.m. July 11 in North Newton City Hall, 2601 N. Main. 

Agenda items include a budget work session, approval of a plat for an addition, an easement for construction of a water detention facility, departmental reports and a period for public comment. 

 

Newton BOE to meet

The Newton USD 373 Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. July 11 in McKinley Administrative Center, 308 E. First. 

Agenda items include a budget update, a health insurance update, board reorganization items, policy revisions, year-end transfers, a substitute teacher handbook and a period for public comment. 

 

Electric board to meet

The Newton Electrical Advisory Board will meet at 4 p.m.  July 18 in the City Hall Engineering Conference Room,  201 East Sixth. 

Agenda items include a review of any new license applications, a discussion of the October electrical class, the welcoming of a new member and a discussion of an upcoming class

 

Council on Aging to meet

The Harvey County Council on Aging will meet at 9 a.m. July 14 in the community room of the Harvey County Courthouse, 800 N. Main. 

Agenda items include a Central Plains Area Agency on Aging update, county department on aging update and provider reports.

 

RSVP council to meet

The Harvey County RSVP Advisory Council will meet at 11 a.m. July 15 in the community room of the Harvey County Courthouse, 800 N. Main. 

Agenda items include grant updates, a budget report, training information for the board, community outreach, a department on aging report and recruitment of advisory council members.  

 

City commission to meet

The Newton City Commission will meet at 4 p.m. July 12 in the City Hall Engineering Conference Room,  201 East Sixth, for a work session. 

A discussion of the 2017 city budget is the only agenda item.

The commission will meet in regular session at 7 p.m. July 12 in the city commission chambers of Newton City Hall. 

Agenda items include the yard of the year award, a grant application for the Newton Police Department, a sanitary sewer rehabilitation project, a report from the Fire/EMS department, a report from the Newton Police Department, releasing liens on a property at 815 N Main and a period of public comment. 

 

County commission to meet

The Harvey County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. July 11 in the commission room of the Harvey County Courthouse, 800 N. Main. 

Agenda items include a second quarter financial report, a bridge design approval and a period of public comment.
