The third grade at Northridge Elementary was able to get up close to trucks, front end loaders, road graders and other equipment used by the city of Newton on Wednesday morning as part of an observance of Public Works Week.

There were seven different stations for students to cycle through, including seeing a backhoe operator use a backhoe to lift a brick off a construction cone, seeing how cameras are used in the sewer system, seeing how sanitation trucks pick up trash cans, and signing a road grader blade for public works workers.
