City commission to host  meetings

 

The Newton City Commission will host two meetings next week, one at 4:30 p.m. June 22 and the other at 5:30 p.m. June 23.

 

The June 22 meeting will take place at the Harvey County Courthouse, 800 N. Main.

 

Agenda for the June 22 meeting includes a revision of the Aviation Advisory Commission structure, an update on airport annexations, a report on airport zoning changes, a review of the Kansas Department of Transportation Kansas Aviation Impact Study and a discussion of airport related projects.

 

The June 23 meeting will be at City Hall., 201 E. Sixth. The meeting will open with a work session in the third floor conference room to discuss storm water management. The commission will meet for a regular session at 7 p.m. in the commission chambers of City Hall.

 

Agenda items for the regular meeting will include an award for budget presentations, a report on the impact of the NJCAA National Championship Golf Tournament at Sand Creek Station, bids for a street overlay project, a report on state legislation impacting city ordinances, an executive session to discuss the acquisition of real estate and a period for public comment.

 

The commission will host budget work sessions at 5 p.m. June 30, July 14 and July 28.

 

 

NRC to meet

The Newton Recreation Commission will meet at 6 p.m. June 22 in the Newton Activity Center, 415 N. Poplar.

 

Agenda items include board appointments by USD 373, publication of the 2015-16 budget and a period of public comment.  

 

County commission to meet

 

The Harvey County Commission will meet at 8:30 a.m. June 22 in the commission room of the Harvey County Courthouse, 800 N. Main. 

Agenda items include an executive session, a CPAAA area plan, appropriation for the CDDO, appropriation for mental health, appropriation for the county fair, budget proposals, a joint meeting with the Newton City Commission and period for public comment.
