OLATHE — The Heat 14U softball team, which has players from Newton, Hesston, Halstead and surrounding communities, placed fourth at the Heartland ASA Class C World Series July 25 through 28 in Olathe.

In pool play, the Heat beat 5 Tool Rumble 7-0, lost to Orange Juice 10-1, beat the CherryBombz 6-0 and beat the Franklin County Adrenaline 9-0.

In blue bracket play, the Heat beat the Power 5-3, lost in the second round to the Blue Flames 5-2, beat Odyssey Fastpitch Black 4-2, beat Mokan Elite 6-4 and lost in the consolation quarterfinals to KC Elite 9-8.

The Heat is hosting tryouts today for its 10U and 12U team (pitchers and catchers at 10 a.m., and all others at 11 a.m.). Tryouts for the 14U through 18U teams will be Sunday (pitchers and catchers at 1:30 p.m., all others at 2:30 p.m.).

Tryouts will be at Centennial Park.
