MOLINE, Ill. — The Wichita Thunder snapped a two-game losing streak, stopping the Quad City Mallards 5-1 Wednesday in Central Hockey League play at i wireless Center in Moline. Wichita scored the first four goals of the game to take command. Neil Trimm scored two goals for the Thunder. Dustin Donaghy added a goal with an assist. Greger Hanson and Aaron Boogaard each added a goal. Les Reaney dished out two assists for Wichita. Todd Griffin, Ian Lowe, R.G. Flath and Matt Summers each had one assist. The host Mallards scored in the third period on a goal by Mickey Lang. Jason Dixon and Patrik Levesque each added an assist. In goal for the Thunder, Kevin Regan had 31 saves against 32 Quad City shots for the win. Quad City’s John Murray had 26 saves against 31 Thunder shot. Wichita improves to 20-10-3, one point behind leader Allen, which has played five fewer games than the Thunder. Quad City falls to 13-15-3, in ninth place in the 10-team league. Wichita plays at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Missouri at the Independence Events Center.
