Goessel — Martha (Bartel) Peters, 87, passed away December 4, 2012, at Bethesda Home, Goessel.
She was born June 24, 1925, to Peter and Anna Schmidt Bartel, in Hillsboro, KS. On October 21, 1948, she married Ralph Peters, he passed away on May 15, 2002.
Survivors include her three children: Rodney (Linda) Peters of Hillsboro, Delbert (Janine) Peters of Hillsboro, Norma (Philip) Duerksen of Orrville, OH, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Linda (Milton) Goertzen of Goessel, 2 sister-in-laws, Elda Bartel of Goessel, and Amanda Bartel of Wichita.
Martha was the ninth of ten children in the family of Peter and Anna Schmidt Bartel. Martha was a lifelong member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel. After farming for many years Ralph and Martha made their home at Bethesda in a duplex and later became residents at Bethesda Home, Goessel.
The family will greet friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2012, at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, 1304 K-15 Hwy near Goessel. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Alexanderwohl Cemetery with a Memorial Service to follow at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, with Pastors Linda Ewert and Steve Schmidt officiating.
