Before you head to the polls on Nov. 6, hear about the views of local and state candidates at an upcoming political forum. The Newton Business and Professional Women organization and the Newton Area Chamber of Commerce are co-sponsoring a candidate forum from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 16 at McKinley Administration Center in Newton. The event is part of the Newton BPW’s celebration of BPW Women’s Week Oct. 14-20. BPW member Ellen Yocum encourages community members to attend the forum and be informed before they vote. “I think everyone should be informed, and I really believe everyone should vote,” she said. Candidates who have committed to appearing at the forum include: - Marge Roberson (Newton), a write-in candidate for the county commission district No. 2 seat. - Robert Tillman (D-Wichita), running against incumbent Mike Pompeo (R-Wichita) for U.S. representative for Kansas, District 4. - Glenda Reynolds (D-Whitewater), state representative for District 72. - Marc Rhoades (R-Newton), state representative for District 72. - Ron Krehbiel (R-Burrton), running for the county commission district No. 3 seat. - T.
