Life Enrichment will feature the following programs Wednesday:

• 9:30 a.m. — “Collecting John Deere” by Clarence Niles, retired math teacher and farmer.

• 10:25 a.m. — “Birger Sandzen and the New Land” by Ron Michael, curator, Sandzen Gallery in Lindsborg.

When Swedish born Birger Sandzén moved to Lindsborg in 1894, his painting style gradually changed from one with a Swedish Romantic influence to one using bold colors and expressive brushwork.

Michael will discuss Sandzén’s contributions to arts and culture in Kansas. Michael examines the development of his art, focusing on the influence of the regional landscape, particularly in Central and Western Kansas.

This program is provided by the Kansas Humanities Council, a non-profit organization with over 35 years of experience promoting understanding of the history and ideas that shape our lives and strengthen our sense of community.

• 11:35 a.m. — “Bethel College Music Department-NATS Contestants” by Soyoun Chun, assistant professor of music, Bethel College.

Life Enrichment meets Wednesdays during the spring and fall semesters in Krehbiel Auditorium in the Bethel College Fine Arts Center in North Newton. The cost is $20 per semester or $2 per week.

A coffee break usually is from 10:15 to 10:35 a.m. Donations are expected to help cover the cost. Lunch is served in Schultz Student Center Dining Hall. Tickets for lunch are purchased before 11 am. for $4.50 each.
