The Honors Program seeks to create an intellectual environment in which superior students flourish. The program offers gifted students opportunities, such as interdisciplinary seminars on topics of current interest, honors research projects, annual trips to graduate schools, panel discussions about graduate education and funding for graduate school applications.
About 80 students participate in the Honors Program. Seniors are doing honors research in such areas as Irish poetry, memories of terrorism in South American history, cognitive and moral development, animal rights, Islamic culture and the effects of promising medical treatments on intestinal parasites common in the developing world.
