Duckwall-ALCO Stores Inc. are sponsoring “A Season of Giving,” a holiday food drive across all Duckwall-ALCO towns.
This program is being supported by national and local Chambers of Commerce and other participating local businesses.
Duckwall-ALCO has committed $125,000 as an event kickoff.
The drive will take place next Tuesday through Dec. 6, and will collect supplies for local food banks.
Multiple sites will be established across each community to collect donations of non-perishable canned foods for a locally designated food assistance program.
“In the wake of the current economic downturn, community food banks throughout the country have reported increased shortages as more and more families and individuals seek assistance,” said Jane Gilmartin, chief operating officer for Duckwall-ALCO Stores Inc. “We are very pleased to be leading this community wide effort.”
