Saimi Bergmann: Spatula up

Normally, I’m too cheap to buy convenience items, but this handy product won me over.

I like to make cupcakes and freeze them to be doled out over several weeks. If I frost the cupcakes before freezing, the frosting smashes and sticks when I wrap them. With Easy Frost, I pull two cupcakes from the freezer, frost and serve.

It has a flower decorator tip that encourages creativity. It dispenses easily and smoothly. The tip can be removed for cleaning. The frosting needs no refrigeration, and lasts up to 12 months.

The orange-hued version for Halloween is new, but I’m looking forward to trying the Decadent Chocolate Fudge version next.

Jennifer Mastroianni: Spatula up

I can’t get over this frosting in a can. In no way does it taste like it’s squirted from a metal cylinder. It tastes like I whipped it up with my KitchenAid mixer.

I expected it to be stiff and gloppy, and I assumed it would be flavored with kids in mind. In other words, ultra sugary. Not so. It’s creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness. I also love that it lasts in the pantry for a whole year, making it a nice staple to have around for impromptu dessert creation. Just be sure to recycle the can.
