Williams, Cowan marry Nov. 22

Tonya Beth Williams and Thomas Richard Cowan, both of Newton, were married during a 5 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008, ceremony at Salem United Methodist Church in Newton.

The Rev. Sherry Clemons officiated the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Neal and Sheila Williams of Newton. The groom is the son of Bruce and Sondra Cowan of Newton.

The bride is the granddaughter of John and Vera Sills of Newton, and Robert and LaVeta Williams of Newton. The groom is the grandson of the late Glenn and Josie Patton of Walton, and the late John and Blanche Cowan of Newton.

The bride was escorted by her father.

Maid of honor was Tonya Young, friend of the bride of Derby. Matron of honor was Tara Graham, friend of the bride of Hays. Bridesmatrons were Brandi Hankins of Newton and Alicia Hillier of Oxford, both friends of the bride.

Best man was Shane Senn, friend of the groom of Newton. Groomsmen were Mason DuBois of Halstead, Shane Waymire of Wichita, and Troy Seen of Newton, all friends of the groom.

Candle lighters and bridesmaids were Jessica Stone, friend of the bride of Newton, and Liz Senn, friend of the groom of Newton.

Ushers and groomsmen were brothers of the bride Ryan Williams and Nathan Williams, both of Newton.

Flower girls were Lilly Senn, friend of the groom of Newton, and Rileigh Hankins, friend of the bride of Newton.

Ring bearer was Carter Graham, friend of the bride of Hays.

Honorary ring bearer was Colbey Williams, nephew of the bride of Newton.

Personal attendant was cousin of the bride Kelsey Sills of Olathe.

Guest book attendant was Jessica Jones, friend of the bride of Newton.

Greeters were Josie Engel of Halstead and Josie Hoy of Clements, both cousins of the groom.

The couple took a wedding trip to Orlando, Fla.

Organist was Greta Hiebert of Newton. Sound system was operated by Don Gruver of Newton.

A reception and dance were at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 971 in Newton, hosted by the bride’s parents, as well as John and Shirley Esau of Walton, friends of the bride’s family; Larry and Nyla Sills of Olathe, aunt and uncle of the bride; Diane Patton of Halstead, aunt of the groom; Mike and Kathy Patton of Emporia, aunt and uncle of the groom; and Delores Riech of Burlingame, aunt of the groom.

A rehearsal dinner was at Salem United Methodist Church in Newton, hosted by the groom’s parents.
