McElroy, Sandate marry May 24

Heidi Alta McElroy and Andres Esteban Sandate were united in marriage at 4 p.m. on May 24, 2009, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Ames.

Father Terry Rasmussen officiated the ceremony. A dinner and dance reception followed at the Temple for Performing Arts in Des Moines, Iowa.

Heidi is the daughter of Dr. James and Dionne McElroy of Ames, and Andres’ parents are Antonio Sandate and Connie Sandate, both of Newton.

Matron of honor was the bride’s sister Julie McElroy of Chicago. Bridesmaids were friends Melissa Mlakar, Tiffany Belz, Emily Duven and Nickaila Sandate, sister of the groom.

Salvadore Sandate of Miami Beach, Fla., is brother to the groom and served as best man. Groomsmen were friends Michael Parks, Jerry Palacioz Jr., Salvatore Renzo, Marc Veverka and Chad Dillon. Ushers were friends Ryan Winsler and Stephen Lambert.

The bride is a 1999 graduate of Ames High School and a 2003 graduate of The University of Iowa with her bachelor’s degree in business administration. She is an event planner for the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group.

The groom is a 1997 graduate of Newton High School, and he received a bachelor of business administration and his master’s degree in business administration from The University of Kansas. He works as an investment banker at Regions Capital Markets, a division of Regions Bank.

The couple enjoyed a honeymoon trip to The Dominican Republic. They work and reside in Atlanta, Ga.
