Question: What do you think Newton needs to do to keep its high school graduates or young professionals from leaving to work in other cities?

• Seems to me if you want to keep the high school graduates and young professionals in Newton, it would be nice if they would pay a better wage and have some kind of benefits. I worked in Wichita right out high school for 20-plus years, but as gas prices increased I chose to come back to Newton to work and lost $7 an hour and benefits to make the change. It saddens me to say that still with the high price of gas, I would have been better off staying in Wichita to work. So let’s do something better to keep these men and women who choose to stay in Newton worth their while.
