Question: It’s open forum week. What’s on your mind?
• The Republican Party is up to the same old tricks of smoking mirrors. After all, they are the ones that got us in to the financial mess we’re in to this day. And Sarah Palin fits right into that smoking mirrors tactic. Bring in Sarah Palin — it gets you off the issues and the concerns that really concern American people. Anyone who believes Sarah Palin could run this country if something happened to John McCain if he were elected has a severe problem.
• To the person who is stealing Tom Adrian and T. Walton yard signs, including mine, I hope you are proud of yourselves. You are committing theft and trespassing.
• If you think Sarah Palin is qualified, I have some swamp land in Florida I’d like to sell you.
• It is time to make driving while using a cell phone illegal for everyone. Who are you people talking to that is more important than maneuvering a 2,000-pound piece of metal safely down the street? Stop and think how many people are plain awful drivers to begin with, and then the law allows a cell phone in the car with them. Be afraid. Be very afraid. I am.
• I’m glad we have trains running through town because it gives people jobs and it gives us more options, too. I don’t think they need to blow their horn all the way through town when people are sleeping and needing their rest. Before they come into town they can blow it, and maybe just a short quick one at stops, and if they keep their speed up, people are less likely to try to run in front of them. And the blocking of the street when they can let cars go by is usually kind of unnecessary.
• The biggest issue facing America today is fear. The latest example is the economic “crisis.” I know how I am going to vote, but I’m not going to let politics keep me from sleeping because, ultimately, I’m resting my hope in God.
