Question: Do you support plans by the Newton USD 373 school district to join in a lawsuit to require the state to come up with more funding for education?
• What’s the point of suing the state when we know the state has no money? Use the lawyer fees to help the schools.
• The school administration wants to join at a lawsuit to sue the state, which is broke, for hundreds of millions of dollars. Are the attorneys who are going to represent the district going to work for free? This is about the most ludicrous thing I’ve ever heard of. Look at the whole picture. Get your act together, tighten your belt. If you’ve got to lay people off, lay them off. Private industry does. Private industry takes pay cuts.
