• To the person who found my church envelope and check: Thank you very much, and God bless you!
• Robert Bowman wrote in the National Catholic Reporter, “We are not hated (by many nations) because we practice Democracy, value freedom or uphold human rights. We are hated because our government denies these things to people in the Third World countries whose resources are coveted by our multinational corporations. The hatred we have sown has come back to haunt us in the form of ‘terrorism.’ Instead of sending our sons and daughters around the world to kill Arabs so we can have the oil under their sand, we should send them to rebuild their infrastructure, supply clean water and feed their starving children...” It seems to me this man has it right — more the Jesus way.
• All the streets look really nice, but they need to do the block of West 11th.
• The biggest problem with Newton is people do not know how to obey traffic laws. They don’t know what red flashing lights means. They don’t know how to turn left. Don’t know how to turn signals on. They don’t know how to use headlights and windshield wipers at the same time according to state laws, and they don’t know the speed limit on Main Street.
• Let’s all try to remember and watch out for squirrels this time of year. I’ve seen lots and lots of dead ones. Be careful drivers.
