Outgoing question: Do you wear your seatbelt? Why or why not?
• I became faithful about wearing my seat belt about 25 years ago. When I married my husband four years ago, he had never worn his seat belt due to being claustrophobic. With a little encouragement, he decided to try and has since worn it regularly. His elderly mother wanted me to take her to a baby shower, and I helped her into my SUV and went to fasten her seat belt and she declined, stating she was claustrophobic and had a note from her doctor stating she didn’t have to wear a seat belt. Thanks to my “assertiveness training class” from Hutch Ju Co, I asked her nicely if she would like to carry her doctor’s note and walk to the shower. She has worn the seat belt since, without prompting. I have seen no signs of claustrophobic anxiety from either of them.
