Question: It’s open forum week. What’s on your mind?
• I never did see too much of gymnastics or cheerleading. However, I did watch the high school bowling for four years. I saw a lot of enthusiasm, enjoyment and learning there, and the coach put a lot of time there. It would be a shame to cut it.
• About the $120,000 house – I understand now. I was looking at the wrong perspective. After all, it is not my money, and $4,000 is just a drop on the bucket. However, its not going to make me move 20 more miles from my job in Wichita. I am for the stuff that will help the people of Newton like a railroad underpass and a quiet zone. That’s the kind of stuff that I’d like to see.
• Every day I witness inattentive dangerous driving, and it’s always because of the cell phone. Hang up and drive.
• I would like to remind everybody the Chisholm Trail Festival is just around the corner. This year’s lineup is outstanding. A Friday night lineup with four of Wichita’s best bands. A Saturday night Sharp Dressed Man. Sunday night’s Christian Festival. There’s $30 to $40 worth of entertainment for a $4 button. Come on, Newton, let’s get out and support it or it won’t be there anymore.
