Question: It’s open forum week. What’s on your mind?
• The people who set the dates for the Fourth of July fireworks to be shot apparently do not have pets. Animals do not like fireworks. It hurts their ears and scares them to death. Most of them have to be taken to the veterinarian to have some kind of medicine given to them to calm them down, so they don’t hide and make all kinds of messes. Apparently, they aren’t thinking about the people or pets that don’t like them. We celebrate Christmas once a year. Why can’t we celebrate Fourth of July once a year? One day is plenty. Why do they have to have four days?
• Instead of spending all that money on a museum, why doesn’t the city spend it on some spray parks? Not all people like to take their kids to the city pool. Put some spray parks in this town, instead of yanking all the wading pools.
• Another year of seeing the beautiful wheat being harvested brings great joy to me. My grandmother taught me how to make zwieback. Thirty years ago, I taught my daughter, and my granddaughter how to make zwieback. Out of seven kids, I am the only one that makes zwieback. Ill remember you guys and gals that harvest wheat on a cold winter’s night when my kitchen smells wonderful.
