He was behind the biggest news story of the year in 2011 — and it stands to reason he would have been.
The county attorney’s office, headed by David Yoder, likely will file a record number of cases this year. With about a week to go, and a stack of paperwork resembling the Sears Tower, the office had filed 532 cases in 2011, one less than the biggest year in the past five years.
That kind of productivity, and the headline-grabbing Vincent Hill case, made David Yoder the newsmaker of the year for 2011.
“This is quite an honor,” Yoder said.
But he doesn’t really like what put him there.
The top story of 2011 was the conclusion of the Chad Carr trial. Carr was offered  a plea bargain, and will face sentencing Jan. 17 in the death of toddler Vincent Hill.
“The case involving Vincent Hill will haunt me forever,” Yoder said. “The photos the family shared with me of that beautiful young boy, contrasted with the photos of after he was killed, will haunt me forever.”
