At its meeting Monday morning, the Board of Harvey County Commissioners approved a request for a conditional-use permit to operate an RV park and rental storage business in the A-1 Agricultural zoning district.
The property is near Burrton about one half mile south of Southwest 24th on the east side of South Wheat State Road. The application for the conditional-use permit was submitted by Terry Stanford.
The Harvey County Regional Planning Commission recommended approval of the request by a unanimous vote at its June 7 meeting on the condition that no more than 10 RV parking stalls are allowed, and both the RV parking and rental storage business are operated within the existing five acres that are fenced.
There were no letters or petitions protesting the permit.
Other business
County commissioners also heard an update on the county’s 2012 budget process.
Commissioners will discuss whether to approve increased funding requests and whether to roll some funds, such as the election fund, into the general fund to simplify the budgeting process.
County Commissioner Marge Roberson said she intends to look carefully into requests for funding increases and make the best use of taxpayer dollars.
“There have been a lot of budget increases in some areas,” she said. “I’d like to, in all honesty, consider what people have asked. I do want to take a look at that, but I have to be realistic.”
The commission will continue to discuss the budget at future meetings.
