Wild go wild over Wild in finale

The Alaska Wild got the first score of the game against the Wichita Wild Thursday in Indoor Football League play at Hartman Arena, a 47-yard Mack Pennington field goal barely 3 1/2 minutes in to the game.

The rest was all Wichita in a 76-9 rout over the winless Alaska team.

Wichita ends the regular season 8-6 and awaits its first-round IFL playoff opponent after a bye week. Alaska falls to 0-13.

After the Alaska field goal, Wichita took the lead on a 45-yard Randy Kelly kickoff return to lead a 35-0 run. The final Alaska score came on a Demarcus James 50-yard kickoff return midway in the second quarter, but Wichita added two more touchdowns to lead 49-9 at the half.

Darius Fudge finished the game with 148 yards rushing on 18 carries, scoring seven touchdowns. Quarterback Dixie Wooten, in just his second game for Wichita, hit eight of 11 passes with one interception and two touchdowns for 131 yards. Clinton Solomon had five of those catches for 95 yards and both scores. Brian Muprh had the other three catches for 36 yards.

Kelly finished the game with 88 yards in kickoff returns.

Alaska was held to just 78 yards total offense.

Tanis Ready has 13 total tackles for the Wichita defense, 10 solo. Kelly had nine total tackles, six solo. The Wichita defense scored on a Donta Moore sack in the endzone for a safety and a Byron Garvin 36-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Wichita had just 18 minutes of possession to nearly 42 for Alaska.
