HILLSBORO — It was the Hillsboro Trojan passing attack that topped the Sedgwick Cardinal rushing attack Tuesday as Hillsboro claimed a 35-28 win in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs at Joel Wiens Stadium in Hillsboro.
Hillsboro quarterback Jacob Fish hit 17 of 29 passes for 350 yards with an interception and four touchdowns. Fish hit Jacob Edwards for a 15-yard touchdown pass for the game winner in the fourth quarter.
Ben Bebermeyer had five catches for 150 yards and a touchdown. Edwards finished with four catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Taylor Hagen caught a touchdown pass. Chance Reese ran for a touchdown.
Sedgwick was led by Wade Hansen with 27 carries for 249 yards and a touchdown. Hansen ran in a fumble recovery 78 yards and added a two-point conversion run in the fourth quarter to tie the game. Trent Stucky carried the ball 26 times for 136 yards and a touchdown.
Hillsboro led 21-13 at the half.
Sedgwick ends the season 7-3. Hillsboro, 7-3, plays at 7 p.m. Saturday at unbeaten Wichita Collegiate.

Moundridge 40, Humboldt 21
MOUNDRIDGE — The Moundridge Wildcat football team is on a three-game winning streak after a 1-6 start, stopping Humboldt 40-21 Tuesday in the first round of the Class 2-1A playoffs in Moundridge.
Shelby Sparks rushed for 142 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns. Lance Loganbill rushed for 49 yards with two touchdowns. Caleb Critchfield and Daniel Ratzlaff each added a rushing touchdown.
Moundridge rushed for 345 yards on 50 carries. The Wildcats had no passing yards on two attempts.
On defense, Loganbill had 8.5 tackles. Sparks had an interception.
Humboldt quarterback Derrick McCall hit 13 of 23 passes for 151 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. McCall added 52 rushing yards with a touchdown.
Moundridge took a 14-7 lead at the half and scored two more touchdowns in the third quarter.
Humboldt ends the season 4-6. Moundridge is 4-6 and plays Saturday at Pittsburg St. Mary’s-Colgan. The game time has not been set at press time.
