Goessel 48, Little River 0 LITTLE RIVER — The Goessel Bluebirds were flying high Friday night, ending their tilt with Little River early, 48-0 after three quarters of play in Eight-Man I, District 4 play, as well as Heart of America League play in Goessel. Goessel rushed for 142 yards on just 22 carries while holding Little River to 51 yards on the ground. The Goessel defense only gave up 13 passing yards in the game, while the offense put 94 yards up in the air — despite completing only three of five pass attempts. Goessel is 6-0 overall, 4-0 in district play. Little River falls to 3-3, 0-3 in district play. Goessel hosts Salina St. John’s Military Friday in non-district play. Tanner Engweiler scored on a three-yard run with 4:01 left in regulation to give Trinity the lead. Engweiler finished with 59 yards rushing on 14 carries. Derek Racette hit a 20-yard pass to Engweiler in the first quarter. Moundridge struck back in the fourth quarter, tying on a 60-yard Jake Janzen run. Racette finished the game with 72 yards passing and 41 rushing. Moundridge’s Jayson Kaufman had 71 yards rushing, followed by Janzen at 64. Trinity improves to 4-2, 4-1 in HOAL play. Although Hillsboro drew first blood with a 56-yard pass from Jacob Fish to Daniel Jost in the first quarter, Hickel answered in the second with a 26-yard run. The Trojans struck again with another Fish to Jost connection for an eight-yard touchdown reception. Hickel answered once more before halftime with a six-yard run just before halftime. Hillsboro’s Daniel Jost kept the game within reach with eight receptions for 108 yards and three touchdowns. Both teams are 4-2. Hillsboro falls to 3-1 in MCAA Mid Division play.
