HESSTON — The Hesston High School girls’ basketball team held rival Haven to two points in the fourth quarter to claim a 41-39 win Friday in Mid-Central Activities Association play.

Hesston led 27-22 at the half.

Ashley Weaver scored 11 points for Hesston, hitting three treys.

Sheridan Stefanski scored 14 points for Haven, 8-6 overall and 3-3 in MCAA play.

Hesston is 12-3, 5-1 in MCAA play and plays Tuesday at Nickerson.

ELBING — Janelle Rust scored 23 points and Mallory Zuercher added 18 to lift the Berean Academy girls to a 57-55 win over rival Moundridge Friday in Heart of America League play in Elbing.

Berean Academy improves to 14-2, 6-1 in MCAA play. Moundridge falls to 10-4, 5-1 in MCAA play.

Berean jumped out to an 11-1 lead in the first quarter but Moundridge got back within one at the half, 22-21. After an even third quarter, Rust scored 15 of Berean’s 19 points in the fourth quarter, hitting two treys.

Spencer Suderman scored 27 points for Moundridge, hitting five treys. Jessie Vogts added 12 points.

Berean hosts Remington Tuesday. Moundridge closes play today in the Haven Classic.
