fall to Mt. Vernon
COLUMBIA, Mo. — A slow first half proved costly for the Bethel College women’s basketball team in an 82-66 loss to Mt. Vernon Nazarene Saturday in the Stephens College Classic in Columbia, Mo.
The Threshers fell behind 43-29 at halftime.
For the game, Bethel was outscored 27-9 from 3-point range, hitting just three of 12 while Mt. Vernon Nazarene went nine of 24.
Sierra Fletcher led 3-0 Mt. Vernon Nazarene with 17 points, followed by Amanda Himes with 16 and Alexis Harkins with 14.
Hannah Blackburn led Bethel with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Jordyn Blanson, Angela Wood and Rachael Bachman scored nine points each.
Bethel falls to 4-3, finishing the classic 1-1. The Threshers are off until 6 p.m. Dec. 3, when they open KCAC play at Ottawa.

Bethel men fall to
top-ranked OWU
WICHITA — The Bethel College men’s basketball team fell to the top-ranked National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Division II Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles 89-62 Saturday in the Friends Classic at Garvey Gym in Wichita.
The Threshers fall to 1-4. OWU, the defending NAIA national champions, improves to 8-0 and is on a 26-game winning streak dating back to last season.
OWU hit 31 of 66 from the field, 10 of 35 from 3-point range. Bethel’s stats were not posted at press time.
Sadiel Rojas led OWU with 16 points and eight rebounds. Murray Shaw scored 12 points. Mike McNeil scored 10 points.
Bethel returns to play at 7 p.m. Friday in Peru, Neb., against Peru State.
