Wingnuts stop Sioux City Explorers

WICHITA —

The Wichita Wingnuts downed the Sioux City Explorers 5-1 Sunday afternoon at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in American Association play.

Chris Colton had three hits for Wichita, scoring three runs.

Kevin Hooper had two hits. Stephen Pearson and Blake Gailen each had two RBIs.

Demetri White, 1-3, picked up his first win of the season in relief.

Dustin Jones went two for three with an RBI for Sioux City.

Wichita is 15-9, 1 1/2 games behind St. Paul in the AA North Division. The series concludes at 7:05 p.m. today.
