HENDERSON, Neb. —
The 15th-annual Bethel Golf Classic was held Aug. 9 at Galaway Creek Golf Course in Henderson.
The event, which benefited Bethel College, drew 52 golfers for an 18-hole, four-player scramble.The team of Wade Janzen of Henderson, his uncle Berry Janzen, cousin Drew Janzen and Jon Sdao, all of Niwot, Colo., won the event with an 12-under par 56.The team of Scott Nissen, Joe Nissen, Jesse Nissen and Jed Nissen, all of Hampton, Neb., finished second at 11-under par, winning a tie-breaker.The team of Matt Gerber of Beatrice, Neb., Rodney Ensz and Ryan Gerber of Lincoln, and Ben Schrag of Hesston, took third at 11-under.Incoming freshman Jordan Esau of Hutchinson and senior Braden Dragomir of Saltspring Island, British Columbia, Canada, provided courtesy drives for teams in holes two and eight.A barbeque was held for players, their families and BC boosters from Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson.The college was represented by Dave Linscheid, director of alumni relations; Allan Bartel, vice president for admissions; Toby Tyner, associate director of development; and Gregg Dick, golf coach and controller. Also participating were members of the Alumni Council’s golf committee — Don Kingsley of North Newton, Rick Krehbiel of Moundridge, Joel Gaeddert of Newton and Kent Erb of Newton.Another tournament is scheduled Sept. 13 at the Hesston Golf Park.
